A VERY MUSICAL WEEKEND! Region 3 All-Region Choir 2023 is in the history books! Jayden Carroll and Lafayette Sharpe blended their beautiful tenor 2 voices with approximately 99 other tenors and basses for a day of clinic and a wonderful concert performance at the Magnolia High School Performing Arts Center on Friday, November 10th. We are so proud of our young singers, and we need more like them to join the choir. The very next day, Allahni Branch, Felicia Jones, Lily Varnell, and Haywood King sang in various All-Region Choirs. The music the conductors pulled out of them was awesome and amazing! We thank our dedicated Chaperones and family members who attended the concerts. We are super proud of each of our students for being selected. #singingcats #WCfamily

Watson Chapel School District cafeterias received our first shipment of Arkansas sourced ground beef today. Using a Local Foods Grant, we were able to connect with Natural State Beef (http://www.naturalstatebeef.org/). Their ground beef is 100% from Arkansas, and is made from the whole cow with no fillers. We are excited to partner with Natural State Beef to bring this ingredient into our schools.

Help WC give a big shout out to Trynity Sterling!! During the 22/23 School year, Trynity Sterling was awarded the Explore Academy Student of the Year while attending the academy here in Pine Bluff. Since she received this reward from an Academy that is a part of the NOLA STAR Academy program, Trynity was entered into STAR Academy's National Student of the Year competition. She ran against several students across the country and was the only runner up for the National title that was from Arkansas. Explore Academy Math Teacher, Dylan Harris, had this to say about Trynity: "I had the privilege of teaching mathematics to Trynity from the time that she started 7th grade at Watson Chapel Junior High School until she finished her 9th grade year at Explore Academy. Trynity proved time and time again that she was capable of mastering any skill that was put in front of her and not afraid to challenge any obstacle standing in her way. There is no doubt in my mind that she has a bright future ahead of her and I know she will be successful at anything she sets her mind to." Great Job Trynity! Family members may join 2nd and 3rd grade students and receive a Thanksgiving Meal for $5.00. 2nd grade lunch is served at 10:45 and 3rd grade lunch is served at 11:45. October is National Apple Month. To celebrate, Watson Chapel Food Service will feature different types of apples that students may not have tried before. These apples will be Honey Crisp, Fuji and Pink Lady Apples. Each is a little different but they all tend to be a mixture of sweet and tart while also being crisp and juicy.
