March is Music In Our Schools Month! We are extremely proud of our very own musicians in the Watson Chapel Wildcat Golden Wave Band and our Wildcat Singing Cats Choir!!
In celebration of Music In Our Schools Month and Women’s History Month, March 1, 2024, was a perfect time to welcome the Marian Anderson String Quartet to visit the music appreciation classes at Watson Chapel Jr. High School. This was an up close and personal experience with the musicians. Students were invited to participate by performing with the quartet. It was very interesting and engaging, and the music was very beautiful and exciting. Students asked and answered questions about the music they heard. Two students (Zoe Coleman and Kenneth Chambers) played along on the violin!
Choir Director, Janet Johnson states, "I am thankful for the partnership with Ms. Katherine Williamson from the Chamber Music Society of Little Rock for bringing the Marian Anderson String Quartet to Watson Chapel. We look forward to partnering with the Chamber Music Society again! Happy Music In Our Schools Month and Happy Women’s History Month!! "
The Marian Anderson String Quartet musicians are: Prudence McDaniel (cello), Deidra Lawrence (viola), Marianne Henry (1st violin), and Nicole Cherry (2nd violin).

Do you know that March 4- 8th is National School Breakfast Week? All Watson Chapel students eat breakfast at no charge. Our breakfasts include breakfast grains, fruit, fruit juice and milk every day.
The Watson Chapel Combined Choir scored a composite Level 2 Excellent rating on their stage and song performance, and a Level 3 on their sight reading.
A word from Choir Director, Janet Johnson:
"We were not recommended for State Festival this year. That’s ok. The music we made together today and knowing we did our best makes us successful. We received lots of positive and constructive feedback from the judges to help us going forward. There’s always room for improvement. It’s the biggest room in the house, right? I just want these Wildcats to keep singing,"
Great Job Wildcats! #singingcats #onecat #WCfamily

Please see the attached letter from WCJH principal regarding the upcoming NAEP assessment on January 30.
In November 2023, we had the privilege of serving at the Arkansas Foodbank located in Little Rock, AR. Many of the students who attended the November volunteer shift wanted the opportunity to give back to the Foodbank. Thank you Watson Chapel High School FCCLA members for having a heart for service in your community and surrounding areas.

Watson Chapel Cafeterias is working with KHall & Sons Produce to bring different fruits and vegetables in through the year. This is a great way to introduce students and staff to new items. This month we have Blood Oranges (also known as Raspberry Oranges). They have a deep red inside but still have that wonderful tangy orange flavor.
Watson Chapel School District will not be in session tomorrow, Friday, January 19, due to continued hazardous road conditions. Secondary roads and rural roads are still unsafe for travel.
The regular monthly school board meeting will be Monday January 22, 2024 at 6:00 pm.

The Watson Chapel School District will be assessing the side roads and back roads where our buses travel on regular routes this afternoon. The primary roads are in pretty good shape. Hopefully, there will be enough melting with rising temperatures so the routes will be safe to transport our students on Thursday morning. A decision will be made by early this evening.
Thank you!
Tom Wilson

High School Happenings..
Mr. Faucette's Human Anatomy and Physiology and Honors Biology classes use advanced technology to enhance learning. In his 1st and 3rd period classes, students were given the opportunity to use the PSVR2, a virtual reality helmet for the PlayStation 5, to take their semester exam using the Human Anatomy VR software. The exam required students to demonstrate their mastery of the skeletal system by identifying the position and function of random bones as indicated by Mr. Faucette.image.pngimage.png
During Mr. Faucette's 6th period Honors Biology class, students were given an interesting project. They had to create a 3D model of a plant or animal cell using TinkerCAD software. In addition, they were required to add all the corresponding cell organelles to their models. Once the models were ready, the students presented them to the class and gave a persuasive sales pitch to convince Mr. Faucette to purchase their model over others. It was a great opportunity for the students to learn and apply the skills of a software engineer in a practical project. Great Job Mr. Faucette! #WCfamily #technology #science
